New at CREMER OLEO: Sorbitol Now Available as Packaged Goods
CREMER OLEO has offered sorbitol less prominently in recent years. Why are you bringing it back now?
Janine Otto: Over the past months, global demand for glycerine has increased significantly, while supply has not been able to fully keep pace. As a result, sorbitol has become an attractive alternative for many manufacturers. When price structures shift, switching products often makes economic sense. That’s why we decided to put sorbitol back in the spotlight and offer our customers a strong additional option.
What was behind the decision to offer sorbitol exclusively as packaged goods?
Antonia Kleinwächter: This decision reflects both customer demand and our own very positive experience. Packaged goods offer much greater flexibility, transportation and storage can be managed more efficiently. We stock our sorbitol in Europe, enabling fast delivery in standard 1,300 kg IBC containers. Our customers are already familiar with this level of flexibility from our glycerine business, and we are now extending the same benefits to sorbitol.
What sets CREMER OLEO’s sorbitol apart—and who is it best suited for?
Antonia Kleinwächter: Our sorbitol is corn-based and therefore gluten-free, which is particularly relevant for food manufacturers. It is commonly used in dietary supplements and wherever humectants are required. Sorbitol is also a well-established ingredient in baked goods, cough syrups, and eye drops.
Our product meets GFSI standards and is kosher and halal certified.
